Environment:

I support many environmental initiatives.
Here are a few:

• Protection of hedgerows on public land. Hedgerows serve as pollution deterents, wind and erosion buffers, and a habitat and food source for many species of birds and wildlife.
  
• Restrictions on the cosmetic uses of pesticides (farms exempt).
  
• Implementation of “best practices” and “green shores” methods in limited and cautious marine development.
  
• Repair of beach damage caused by aging municipal infrastructure.
  
• Fuel saving initiatives such as establishing more ‘no idle’ zones, ‘green’ parade entries etc.
  
• Initiating energy saving measures in municipal buildings and lands as deemed feasible.
  
• I support light rail transit over more intrusive infrastructure – we should be looking at ways to reduce traffic, not ways to encourage more.
