Agriculture:

I support our new Agricultural Advisory Commission on their two future projects: establishing a North Saanich Food Policy document, and developing a District Agricultural Plan. I was an active participant in our North Saanich Flavour Trail tour of farms as well as an advocate to establish our first Farmers’ Market.

I support the goals and objectives in our Food Charter, a document which guides our approach to local food security, ALR preservation, agricultural economic growth and policy, education and awareness, and public health.

Agriculture is not some backwoods, ranch-er-ree venture in the brambles and mud – the agricultural business these days is big business and includes many features such as Agritourism and green house production.

If land is unable to be tilled, it can be used for greenhouses or farm buildings, raised beds or livestock pens.
