Glamorgan Farm Free Range Eggs From Heritage Breeds of Hens
These eggs are from happy, uncaged hens fed without hormones, medications, and other toxins. Our eggs have delicious, nutritious orange yolks and light clear whites.
We like to eat our eggs with fresh lovage and we also pickle eggs. Read more about our lovely hens in Anny’s books “Home” and “Home and Away”.
Some of our special, rare hens are:
The Hungarian Naked Neck: an old breed from the Slavic world, originally crossed with a turkey. The Naked Necks are very hardy and come in a range of colours. Their wonderful red featherless necks are their most distinguishing feature which many people think is ugly but on Glamorgan Farm, we think they are beautiful! They lay brown eggs.
The Polish Crested: This friendly slim lady lays white eggs.
Their most interesting feature is their feathered top hats.
The Arucana: This is not so much a rare old heritage breed as an exotic. The fun feature with these heavy, fluffy, multi-coloured girls is that their egg shells are blue and green. They originate from South America.
Rhode Island Reds and Buff Orpingtons: Both these old breeds are now on Canada’s Rare Breed list. They lay brown eggs.
Speckled Hamburg: This delicate European hen has a striking black and white feather pattern. She lays off-white eggs.
